you will see people offering to sell traffic or links to your businesses website, this may seem tempting. but the traffic you want is really from the first tier providers. The search engines. Google, Yahoo search (* I don’t really like them), MSN / bing, etc
You can pay for traffic with their Pay Per Click systems. Hell, they even tell you its google adsense safe.
Do you want to chance it?
Or you can build a quality site that has something to offer to your customers; and gives them a reason to come back, read more, spend more time on your site.
What do you think will help you in the long ruin?
Dealing with someone who clearly did not have the patience to build a viable business so he is selling you content and links ?

you really need to review their terms and conditions these guys are putting you into a subscription model that will rebill you monthly, their disclaimer locks you into it for a short time and you cannot chargeback on them if you use an ATM debit card. so be cautious and read the fine print (*they are required to put it on their site, look in the footer)

you can’t wait for those big cheque to start rolling in. Well, we have a few more steps first, no one will do this for you, you do not have to pay someone to provide you with a plan to manage this nor do you need to signup to a MLM to get the support you need, just take it slow, spend the time needed and know now; it will be some time before you get to cach your first cheque and it most likely wont be the most impressive cheque you have ever received.
Subject Matter
This is normally referred to as your Vertical in Search Marketing. Car engines would be in the vertical Automotive. Ice cream bars would be in the vertical Food, groovy?
This is the hardest part for most individuals looking to start a home based business. Especially if you are just looking to make extra money and do not already have an idea of what you want to do. If you do not have an idea to start with, it can be very overwhelming to know where you should start or how to get an idea. If your like me plan to spend a few days if not weeks on making a decision, again this is not a get rich quick scheme.
No idea is a bad idea, it just might be one that doesn’t have an easy clear path to making money. For example starting your own business reselling ice cream bars is pretty easy to figure out how you will make money. Where as writing open source software tends to be a bit more challenging to figure out how to monetize. But don’t let that hang you up. We will deal with that in the next round.
It is important that you look for something in a subject matter you have a passion for, something you love doing or something you have a lot of knowledge about. Why is this you may ask? To run a home based business you will spend a lot of time dealing with content, customer inquiries and other areas of your business where details matter. If you are not interested or passionate in your subject you are less likely to be dedicated to it and wont get into the intrinsic details that make you an expert at that subject.

Write down everything you do or would like to do
- hobbies
- daily tasks
- chores
- what you do at work
- what interests you
- what you would like to do
- what you dream about
Lets say you like clocks, watches, timepieces and things of this nature. This is a great area, if your knowledgeable you can document the history and evolution of the different areas inside this like cuckoo clocks, pocket watches, the Quartz Crystal watch and how it came about. If you are not knowledgeable, it is now time to do some research and document it. Do not steal content, rewrite it. This will give you a jump for the base of your website.
Now we can start to research other sites that are related to this subject area. Look around for sites that sell things related to what you are thinking about, look for aficionado sites, forums, groups, news articles, history, wikipedia articles. This will give you an idea on whats out there now related to it as well as maybe some ideas on how to monetize. Take notes and keep the links to these sites they will come in handy latter.
